During my married life I adopted and raised twelve children and also raised one of my daughter’s children, Maringiwai. One day, when Maringiwai was six-years-old, she fell off the jungle gym at school, and because of the resulting injury to her body, her legs were completely paralysed. She was unable to walk or stand at all. She was immediately taken to Tauranga hospital and was there for the next six weeks. During this time there was no improvement in her condition.
After six weeks in hospital, she became very despondent and on a Friday morning as I was visiting her, she cried and cried and cried and pleaded with me to take her home. With the doctors’ permission, and after finding out everything I had to do for her, I took her home for the weekend. When taking her back to hospital on the Sunday afternoon, I passed what I saw was a sign advertising a Weston Carryer divine healing meeting the following Tuesday night in Otumoetai, Tauranga. I stopped the car to have a closer look, but discovered that there was no sign. This had to be an amazing supernatural “sign” from the Lord just for me. I checked and found out that this meeting was indeed being held and I was convinced that if I took Maringiwai to the meeting, the Lord would do something wonderful for her.
I asked my neighbour, Liz Forrest, if she would help me. The following Tuesday, we picked Maringiwai up from Tauranga Hospital, carried her to the car, drove to the meeting and we both carried her in. During the early part of the meeting Maringiwai was very still but when Weston started ministering, her body started jerking. Then Weston said that there was someone there who was unable to walk and the Lord wanted him to pray for that person immediately. Liz and I then carried her forward and Weston prayed for her. We then put her on the floor, and she was able to stand unaided, although she still could not walk.
Over the next forty-eight hours she steadily re-gained more body movement and two days later she was able to walk and run with complete freedom. This was fourteen years ago and Maringiwai is now an air hostess in Australia and has always been so appreciative for what the Lord Jesus Christ has done for her. I still also praise and thank Him.
