Through Covid-19, I wrote a book on how to multiply churches, not simply add churches. It’s written in an uncomplicated and simple step by step easy to read style.
To give you an example, from the book, here are the four points I consider when discipling someone:
“When I meet a person I am discipling, I think of a cross.
1. The upwards part is our relationship with Jesus. So, for example, I might ask the person, ‘On a scale of one to ten, how do you feel your prayer life is right now? How do you pray? Is prayer happening daily? For how long? How is your reading of the Bible? What are you reading? What has God said to you today or lately?’
2. The right-hand side of the cross is all about family. So, ‘How is your relationship with your wife? Your children?’
3. The left-hand side of the cross is everything to do with ministry, church activity, work or being a student. So, ‘How are things at work? How are the office relationships? How are you doing with your studies? Who are you discipling and how is that going? What ministry activities are you involved in? What are you passionate about? Do you know what your gifts and talents are, and would others agree? When did you last exercise the spiritual gifts?’
4. The bottom of the cross is about asking, ‘What are the one or two questions you might have today?’ Questions that are left unanswered over a long period of time can crush our faith and stop us pursuing God. We need to somehow answer the questions we have – either through study, talking with a friend, or prayer.
Use the above four talking points as a guide, but be flexible and fluid...”
